Diagnostic Services
The Division of Audiology offers a full range of diagnostic services including the following:
BaHa EVALUATIONS
- Comprehensive evaluations to determine candidacy for the BAHA implant
- Device demonstration & implant simulation
- Possible candidates include: Single-Sided deafness, Irrevolvable Conductive Hearing loss, Unilateral Sudden Hearing loss, Acoustic neuroma, Atresia, surgical ear canal closures, etc.
HEARING EVALUATIONS
- Comprehensive assessment of outer, middle and inner ear function
- Determination of type and degree of hearing loss
OTOTOXICITY MONITORING
- Audiologic monitoring of auditory status due to possible changes caused by ototxic medications
- Record auditory changes from patient baseline
- Testing includes high frequency audiometry and otoacoustic emissions
SPECIAL TESTING
- Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE): Assessment of outer hair cell function
- Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR): Assessment of auditory system pathway, used to rule out retrococlear involvement
- Electroneurography (ENoG) : Assessment of facial nerve function secondary to acute trauma, illness, etc.
- Electrocochleography (ECoG): Assessment of presence of endolymphic hydrops in the inner ear, commonly seen in patients with Meniere's Disease
- UREA Dehydration: Dehydration evaluation for patients with suspected hydrops
TINNITUS EVALUATIONS
VESTIBULAR TESTING
- Assessment of the balance organs and nerve function for patients experiencing dizziness or imbalance
- Rehabilitation maneuvers for Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV)
- Available tests include: Rotary chair, Posturography, Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potentials (VEMP), Fistual, Videonystagmography (VNG)
