Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery

University of Miami Facial Plastic, Facial Reconstructive and Facial Cosmetic Medicine

The University of Miami Department of Otolaryngology at the Miller School of Medicine provides a complete offering of cosmetic and reconstructive facial procedures. Through its two full-time academic physicians, Dr. Brian Jewett and Dr. Lisa Grunebaum, the division promotes a collaborative approach to improving all aspects of facial appearance.

The Division of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery is directed by Dr. Brian Jewett, a specialist in facial reconstruction. A graduate of the University of North Carolina Otolaryngology residency program and the University of Michigan fellowship in facial plastic surgery program, he joined the University of Miami faculty in 2001. As both Otolaryngology residency coordinator and fellowship director Dr. Jewett is a devoted teacher and young physician advocate and was awarded the University of Miami Department of Otolaryngology teaching award in 2003.

Most importantly, however, Dr. Jewett is a patient advocate and was recently recognized with a service excellence award for outstanding patient care by the Studer Group, an outcomes bases health care consulting firm. Having devoted and limited his practice to facial reconstruction, he expertly restores facial symmetry and harmony to patients who are affected by disfiguring cancer or congenital abnormalities. Additionally, he has a special interest in nasal reconstruction and rhinoplasty and is often invited as a national, expert lecturer on facial reconstruction.

Dr. Lisa Grunebaum joined the University of Miami faculty in 2007. She is a graduate of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital Otolaryngology residency program and the University of Miami facial plastic surgery fellowship program. Currently, she treats patients who seek to enhance their natural beauty as well as those who require reconstructive facial surgery for cancer or trauma. With a special interest in minimally invasive approaches to improving facial appearance from a cosmetic and reconstructive standpoint, she commonly performs non-surgical facial remodeling and contouring which is a no-downtime rejuvenating facial procedure. Dr. Grunebaum also has had extensive clinical and research experience with cutting-edge laser treatment of scars as well as aging skin. Dr. Grunebaum is also frequently an invited national, expert lecturer on facial laser rejuvenation, skin care and non-invasive facial remodeling.

Dr. Grunebaum is part of the University of Miami Executive Medicine program and is the co-director of the multi-specialty University of Miami Cosmetic Medicine Group. University of Miami Cosmetic Medicine is located at both University of Miami Hospital and Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. The multi-specialty group includes Dr. Grunebaum, Dr. Joely Kaufman, a cosmetic dermatologist and Dr. Wendy Lee, an oculoplastic surgeon.
