Ear Institute : Meniere’s Disease

Treatment Options

Treatment of Meniere’s disease will be determined by your otologist. Often times this disease can be successfully controlled by diuretics and reducing daily intake of sodium. Rarely are symptoms controlled by medication as this can delay the recovery process. For more severe cases, medical intervention may be necessary and will be discussed with the patient by their otologist. The degenerative nature of the disease can lead to issues with imbalance. This can successfully be treated with most patients by incorporating exercises to restore balance by trained vestibular rehabilitation therapists.
